Since Bob’s arrival in California in 1966, he has become a fixture at the san Francisco Region’s races. He’s competed in D Sports Racing (DSR) every year from 1966 through 1981, with a total of 130 races and more than 85 podiums.

At the end of the 1981 season Bob hung up his helmet and spent two years designing and building a new car for himself and four other competitors. In 1984 he returned to competition and spent the next 35 years driving in more than 312 races.

Bob is one of a few people who set out to design and build a race car who actually

finished the task. His design and build of the Fox two seat DSR was the design that ultimately became the Amac, and the basis of the Cheetah DSR’s.

In addition to being a car builder, he’s been an instructor at the SFR Drivers school for 47 years. He’s also been a Tech Inspector, a regional steward, and a member of the national competition board (CRB).

But most of all Bob has become a mentor for many drivers by offering advice on engineering, car setup and clarification of the GCR.
