May 12th, 2023 by Mabel Hildreth
Time to enter Regional 7 and 8 at Thunderhill Raceway Park, June 3 and 4, 2023. This race will feature the San Francisco Region debut of the Crossflow Cup.
This series feature Formula Fords built before 1972. Back in 1972 the pathway to a professional auto racing career almost always had a pit stop in the Formula Ford ranks. Drivers like Ayrton Senna, Nigel Mansell, and Jenson Button all got their start in Formula Ford. We anticipate a large field of well prepared cars contesting every inch of the three mile Thunderhill Raceway Park asphalt.
If you like formula cars group four will be the 2023 Northern California Debut for the Formula Ford the Series Group. This is a group based in Southern California that promotes small bore formula car racing. The only difference between them and the National rules based Formula Fords is they allow any Hoosier R55 compound tire as opposed to the Radial Hoosier tire the National Formula Ford guys have to run. It could be the Formula Ford race will be the closest race of the weekend.
In group one the guys and gals from the Formula Car Challenge will be competing. The Formula Car Challenge features F3 Ligers, FSpeed 2.0, Pro Formula Mazdas, and Formula Mazdas. All four classes feature hotly contested open wheel racers by a wide variety of drivers. One of drivers to watch is Nicole Havrda. She is a young lady from Canada who aspires for a professional racing career.
It is time to sign up the weather should be great and the racing will be even better.
If your car is not ready sign up as a volunteer. Whatever your racing interest is we have a spot that will keep you entertained all weekend long.
