San Francisco Area Autocross Sites

Marina Airport


Medium size, nice concrete area, not too abrasive but sometimes slippery with the local windblown sand.  Very flat; scenic and never scorching hot.  Occasional entertainment watching skydivers landing nearby, their colorful chutes in the sky.  They no longer interrupt our events there, luckily. 

Rules of Conduct (6/12/02):

The Marina Motorsports people have supplied us with the following:

Welcome to Marina Municipal Airport.

This is an active airport 24/7/365 governed by FAA guidelines.  If any of the rules listed below are not adhered to, this event will be shut down and all future events will be canceled!

These rules are in addition to the Airport Operating Ordinance 96-01.

  1. All traffic and personnel shall yield right of way to any and all
    aircraft and STOP at the "Stop Signs".

  2. A posted speed limit of 5 mph will be strictly enforced while on the
    taxiway.

  3. You may use only the designated entrance and exit to the temporary
    use site.  Do not stray from the temporary use site (i.e., onto any
    taxiway or east of the temporary use area. (This includes pedestrians,
    cyclist, etc...)

  4. Once at the temporary use area, you must observe a speed limit of 15
    mph in any parking or paddock area.

  5. Please do not litter. Use the trash cans provided. This includes
    cigarette butts. Marina will charge your club for any clean up after
    your event ($45.00/hr, one hour minimum).

  6. You are responsible for you, your car, and your guests.

All violations will be reported to the Airport Manager and the Marina Police for them to take disciplinary Action.

Directions:

Marina is about 30 miles south of Santa Cruz, 7 miles north of Monterey. 

From 101:

  • Go south on US 101 until you hit CA 156 west (this is about oh...30 min south of Gilroy)
  • Keep on 156 which turns into CA 1 south
  • About 10-15 miles down Highway 1 you will hit the town of Marina
  • Take the Reservation Road exit
  • hang a left and then turn right on the second light (this is still Reservation)
  • Keep going past the city area and the airport will be about 4 miles, on your left.

From 1:

  • Take Reservation Road east from Highway 1
  • hang a left and then turn right on the second light (this is still Reservation)
  • Keep going past the city area and the airport will be about 4 miles, on your left.
