How we Run Events in 2005

SFR Autocross Series

  • We run two separate series of events each year, the Championship Series and the Slush Series.
  • These are separately scored and trophies are awarded for each.
  • The same Supplemental Regulations apply.
  • The Championship Series is generally from January to September, ending before the SCCA Nationals.
  • The Slush Series is after Nationals up till the next year's Championship Series.  Slush tends to be a bit more laid back, but events are run the same.

"Events" and "Rounds"

Our Events Calendar lists autocrosses as "SFR Event" or "SFR Round 4".  These mean the same, except that there is an event information web page available for those Events classified as Rounds.  The Run Groups are pretty sure, and the site is pretty sure, but anything can change, right up through complete cancellation at the last minute.  Always check the website or hotline the night before.

General Event Information

  • Events are open to SCCA members only.
    Membership card must be presented
    to run.  Memberships may be purchased on site, but you will not be allowed to run until your card arrives from SCCA.  Join early.  See the button on the top of this screen.  A special "Friends and Family" entry is available for members to sponsor non-member entrants occasionally.
  • The event will be conducted according to SCCA Solo II rules, as amended by SFR Supplemental regulations
  • Karts in SFR events are governed by the SFR Kart Rules
  • Cars must undergo technical inspection for safety and car identification issues at every event.  Experienced autocrossers may be eligible for the SCCA annual tech program, which makes them personally responsible for performing their own tech inspection at every event.
  • SFR Handicapping indexes, which are based on the most recently published RTP/PAX indexes, will be used to generate an indexed order of finish on the website..
  • Entry Fee: $30;
  • By entering you agree to work your assigned work group;
  • SCCA membership card and valid drivers' license are required and must be presented at registration;
  • Helmet is required: Snell type M or SA, '90 or later ONLY; Loaners are available on a limited basis.
  • First run group is run on an "inverted grid":
    • First car to arrive on grid is put into last position;
    • Last car to arrive will run first;
    • Cars in the first run group will be tech'ed on grid.
    WHY? Because the first car out each day runs on a slippery, dirty track, and smart drivers want others to clean it off for them. Grid Early.

General Event Schedule

  • For first half run groups arrive 1 to 1 1/2 hours before the first car out to walk the course, register and have your car tech'ed. Help is appreciated in setting up the course and marking cones.
  • MANDATORY Morning Drivers' Meeting Starts 8:30 AM; At some events, this will be later -- check the specific event's Info Page. First car out IMMEDIATELY following.
  • Other run groups have no set schedule, but start as soon as possible
  • For second half run groups, arrive no later than 11:30 AM
  • Registration closes at NOON;
  • A course walkthrough is offered just before the MANDATORY Afternoon Drivers' Meeting which will not start before 12:30 PM
  • Technical inspection will close at 1:00 PM;
  • Please stick around and help clear the site!
