Special Classes for 2001
-
Novice Classes - All
entrants in a Novice Class -- say, Novice 1 -- compete for a single set
of trophies. Novices run in the same run group as their Open Class. The
Novices that run together in a run group will make up a separate Novice
Class.
As a result we will have 8 Novice Classes. The Run Group list for the event
will show which classes are in each Novice Class. Note that the open
classes in a run group define the makeup of the Novice classes.
The intention is that the Novice Class makeup will remain the same throughout
the entire series. However, extreme circumstances may cause the run
groups, and thus Novice classes to be shaken up. WHen such a change
is made, advance notice will be given on the ba-autox email list, and on
the web site. In this case, standings for the new Novice classes
will be recomputed as if the season to date had been run with these classes.
This may cause winners to become runners up, and vice versa. Sorry
about this, but our priority is on having a balance of numbers in each
run group, so we have enough workers to staff every run group af our events.
-
Stock, Street Prepared, Street Touring,
and Street Modified Novices may run street tires only
-- treadwear rating of 120 or more.
Modified and Prepared Class Novices may use any Solo2
legal tire.
-
Street Touring R
(STR) -- Sedans 3.1 liters or under, modified more than Stock, Less
than SP. This class may run on any DOT approved
tires, including R tires.
-
Street Touring
S (STS) -- Same rules as Street Touring, but running Street
Tires (treadwear rating 140 or greater).
-
For indexed overall finish the STS PAX index will be used.
-
For STS cars running in PAX class, the STS PAX index will be used.
-
However, we use the PAX index for STR for all Street Touring cars
running Novice or Street Tire, because the
cars in these classes are compared using their open class (R Tire) index
but running street tires.
-
Also note that SCCA STS has more restrictive tire rules than SFR's Street
Tire class -- 140 treadwear index instead of 120.
-
STS IS a National SCCA class this year.
-
NOTE: You can see the rules
for this class online.
-
Street Modified
(SM) -- Sedans or coupes modified more than SP. Second year in SFR
(and SCCA!)
-
KARTS
-
Kart Drivers, please tell Registration you are Karters.
-
Read and become familiar with the SFR Karting
rules before the event
-
Karts will not be allowed to be driven under power through the paddock;
they must be pushed either on the ground or on a portable stand
-
Street Tire --
Must run tires with treadwear rating of 120 or more.
-
PAX -- PAX class
has been discontinued for 2001.
At each event, classes generally run one run group later than at the
previous event
