About the Divisional
Why are Divisional Solo II events held in each division?
-
One reason is to promote inter-regional competition and camaraderie within
the Solo community.
-
The second reason is for meeting the National Solo II entry requirement
as specified in section 4.2.E of the Solo II rules.
-
Another reason is to help prepare/familiarize the competitor with the method
of how the Solo II Nationals event is conducted in Topeka.
This will be a great opportunity for you SFR rookies to experience what
a national caliber event is like if you choose to attend the Solo II Nationals
in Topeka sometime in the future. Also, the event will help you to gauge
your driving skill level with national level drivers in your respective
class.
Another factor in administering/hosting the divisional event, all entrants
are required to pre-register and must
be current SCCA members. A non-member may sign up by completing membership
application and your membership application may be attached to your event
entry. See the online registration form.
Another important subject is the Tech Inspection. All safety
related items will be inspected for compliance with Section
3.3.3 of the Solo II rules. I strongly encourage every competitor to
read 3.3.3 of the Solo II rules in order to prepare you for the inspection.
There are only two tech inspection sessions. They are the same time periods
as the registration sessions. After you complete the tech inspection a
tech inspection sticker will be affixed to your car. You must have the
tech inspection sticker in order to run.
Car numbering is very important for timing & scoring. Numbers
higher than 99 will not be allowed (for the first driver of a car; second
driver is first number plus 100). Also, you will only be allowed no more
than two drivers per car in the same class. The ladies class entrants do
not count with the open class. In otherwords, one car will be allowed to
have a maximum of two drivers in the open class and the same car will be
allowed to have a maximum of two drivers in the respective ladies class.
All cars will run in numerical order in their respective class and with
their class.
The grid procedure will be different than a local SFR regular
series event. Every driver/car will be assigned a home spot on the grid.
This will be your home spot for both days. Information on the grid home
assignments will be provided at the event. You will be required to return
to your assigned spot after each run and this includes after your last
run of the day.
Each competitor will be required to submit to an impound inspection
at the conclusion of their run group. After the run group is completed
you will be escorted to the impound inspection area for a thirty minute
period. The inspection is done by your fellow competitors, not some higher
authority.
Please don’t feel intimidated by the format of the event. A divisional
is truly is pleasurable experience and you will have fun and learn a lot.
Your entry fee will include a party
hosted by the SFR Sacramento Chapter. If you have never experienced a Divisional
Saturday night social dinner, then you are missing something.
Work Group Swap: Sacramento Chapter will be pioneering
a new service to help long-distance travelers coming to our event.
We are asking local drivers to sign up and indicate whether they would
be willing to work in the last group, pre-volunterring to swap and do the
work assignment of someone who has a long drive home. Travelers who
would otherwise be assigned to work in the last group may contact the Swap
Chief to find a volunteer worker replacement. This swap arrangement
is only for the last work group of the day. The number of swaps we
can accomodate will depend on the number of local drivers who volunteer
for the swap. Note that key positions, such as timing & scoring,
will be more difficult to accomodate, but we will do our best.
Trophies will be awarded as per the Solo II rules. More details
will be announced on this subject. |
