In 1998, the San Francisco Region Sports Car Club of America (SFR-SCCA) created an exciting new race series dubbed "Race to Recycle Oil." 

Funded with two grants from the California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB), the program began to educate people about the importance of properly recycling used oil and filters as well as using re-refined oil. 

After five years with the "Race To Recycle Oil" title rights sponsorship, the series is now on its next lap - crowning "Oil Recycling Champions." 

Like its predecessor, "Oil Recycling Champions" aims to drive home the importance of recycling used oil and using remanufactured oil at home and at the tracks. 

The series also hopes to increase public awareness about the process of both. To do so, the SFR-SCCA will set-up informational booths as well as broadcast and advertise information at racing events and within the racing community. 

The program's administrators will work diligently to bring exposure to the series through the sports press, industry news (The Wheel, NSSN, magazines, etc.) as well as general TV/radio and print media. 

In addition, SFR-SCCA rolling race equipment, schedules, flyers, promotional material, trophies and results sheets will display the "Oil Recycling Champions" logo and message. 

Plus, drivers will be asked to wear the program's patch and place its sticker on their car in order to earn Regional Championship points.

In short, SFR-SCCA will take every opportunity to obtain frequent, positive and effective exposure of the "Oil Recycling Champions" message. The club is committed to maximizing the value of the grant received by the State of California Integrated Waste Management Board.
