09/07/02: The angels sure are lucky now.
Those of us that knew Kevin sure were blessed to have him as a friend. He was a very dedicated and amazing member of the Emergency Crew, willing and
able to do any job at hand. Whether it was a rescue truck or tow truck, he could do it.
He was the first rescue person that ever helped me on a scene. Many of you know it's tough to roll-over a car by yourself. Though nearly four years
ago, I remember it like it was yesterday.........Sears Point T2 center of the track.......orange 510 on it's lid. I had it all hooked up, but knew
that it would be tough to run the controls and keep it from spinning on the pavement. "How ever am I going to do this by myself?" I thought. When
suddenly I heard a voice say "Are you ready?" and I looked up. Almost like an angel he was standing there ready to run the controls as we "righted"
this car. It was so amazing to have him there.
Even when Kevin started slowing down, he kept himself busy. His handmade bracelets are now collector's items. I was blessed once again by his
Kyne(d) heart to receive one of these personalized bracelets with the word
"Towchic" and a tow truck hand beaded into it not so long ago. Kevin you
were truly amazing.
Thanks for sharing part of your Kyne(d) heart with me. God Bless you.

07/28/02: Kevin was a dear friend for many years. I knew I could always count on
him for ideas, good judgment and just being there.
We used to have some very animated discussions, at the end of which, I would always come out with something learned and something to think
about.
The last thing my friend gave me was a replacement tool kit for my car. Telling Sandi, "She'll need these." As always, Kevin was thinking of his
friend and what he could do to help.
Kevin's soft, calm voice was always a welcome sound when I needed someone to lean on.
I will miss him with all my heart, but I know that he is now at peace and is watching over us.

07/25/02: To know Kevin was to love Kevin! I knew him well and I love him today
more than I did yesterday!
He was always there for whatever was asked of him and always gave that additional little push which resulted in 110 percent output. I had many
conversations with Kevin relative to life with regards to racing and life outside of racing. He taught me so much relative to both.
I will miss him dearly and know that he is up there keeping us organized.
Rest in peace my friend!

07/25/02: If we miss a corner on our way to Heaven, It is good to know that Kevin will be the first one there to help us.

07/24/02: My favorite memory of Kevin is from a hot summer weekend at Thunderhill maybe 4 years ago.
He was helping out with Worker Trans (doing double-duty with Emergency of course). There weren't a lot of
worker trans trucks that weekend and I was just grateful that we had a ride to our turns. Well the
first ride I had in the back of that blue and white pickup, he must have been going 50 miles an hour
up the hill on the back section (at least it seemed like 50). We were hanging on for dear life and
I was hoping somebody else in the back would say something......but I sure didn't want to be the one
to pipe up and have everybody else think I was a weanie or something......
Anyhow we got to our turns safely, and after a couple more rides with Kevin, by the end of the
weekend I kind of got used to it. But at Social on Sunday I remember talking to somebody who
finally said "Gee, Kevin drives awful fast for Worker Trans, doesn't he?" I got a good laugh out of
that. I wonder if anybody ever told him... Or maybe we all just actually enjoyed the E-ticket ride
too much to complain... I know I'd hop in the back again right now if I could.
Rest easy, my friend.

07/23/02: Another of our region's fixtures (Kevin) is gone and we are the poorer for
it.
My earliest memory of Kevin is within a few months after I joined the region in 1988. I had been on the crew for maybe three months or so. I did not
know anybody very well other than Lucky and his parents and so was definitely a bit on the shy side during the evening.
At that point in history there were no other women on the tow crew. (There of course have been many before and since, but at that time I was the only one.) Kevin made a point of coming over to me during the evening and telling me that I was "doing good", and that I should be proud of what I was doing. That meant a great deal then and it still does. I started to really feel like a member of the crew then.
Thanks and Godspeed to you Kevin. We will miss you.

07/23/02: On Saturday night when I found out from another crew member that Kevin was not doing well it brought a heavy heart , but also at the same time there was a feeling of relief, knowing that Kevin would soon be at peace. Well that day has come and Kevin is at peace.
Kevin was on the Emergency Crew when I joined in 94, he was always there to lend a hand , whether you were on the Rescue Truck, Tow Truck, he even helped out in Dispatching, and would help out in Worker trans at Thill, he was always there. I am going to miss you Kevin.
My Heartfelt Thoughts , Feelings and Prayers are with Sandy

God Speed and keep watching over us Kevin

07/22/02: We received:
....All Stations, All Hands, All Corners.....
...............Fireman Down...................
Early Monday morning Kevin Kyne made his final run. He will not be returning to station.
No fire on the track ever bested him, but the cancer burning within him was relentless, and the rekindles eventually maxxed out his resources to
fight back the beast. He passed quietly, at home, with Sandy by his side.
As one of the longest currently serving members of the EMERGENCY crew, Kevin casts a very long shadow. For several of us "Been there/ Done that
types", Kevin was the one who once told us we could do it in the first place, and then showed us how. His presence will be deeply missed, but
his essence will always be a part of everything we do.
Where ever the venue, Kevin will be monitoring the landline.
Listen for him.
He will tell you what you need to know, and where and when to go.
.............STAND DOWN and STAND BY (my Friend).................

07/22/02: On July 22,2002 we received
It is with a heavy heart I must pass along some sad news
This morning Kevin Kyne passed away long time member of the club and Emergency Crew.
Details of any services are not yet forthcoming When they are announced they will be passed along
Please keep Sandy and the family in your prayers. From Sandy
I'm sad to have to tell you that Kevin passed away this morning about 2 AM.
......There will be no funeral. He didn't believe in them and neither do I. He will be cremated and his ashes scattered sometime soon at a place to be determined. What he would want is a good old fashioned wake and perhaps on some weekend we can find a nice big area and whoever wants to can gather to remember his life, tell racing lies and celebrate our racing family. All this to be decided later.
....... I have a lot to do in the next few days and cards and emails would be better than phone calls. I will get to the track to collect those hugs as soon as I can.
Sandy
