10/03/05 - On behalf of the drivers, crews and staff of the SCCA World Challenge we send our sincere sympathies and condolences to San Francisco Region and to Barbara's relatives and many friends.

Barbara was always a great help to us and a bright and welcoming presence when we raced in your area. She and her contributions will be deeply missed by many who never had the opportunity to meet her.

In the SCCA, it may truly be said that a loss to any of us is a loss to all of us.

For the SCCA World Challenge....

-- Pat di Natale, Chief Steward

09/16/05: In response to your many inquiries, services for Barbara Baldwin will be held after the National Runoffs to accommodate Barbara's many friends who will be attending the event.

The club double regional race at Laguna Seca is being planned as a tribute to Barbara and a memorial service will be scheduled subsequent to that.

As details become available we will pass them along to the racing community that was such a huge part of Barbara's extended family.

Thank you for your concern.

-- RJ Gordy, SFR Regional Executive

09/14/05: I know that this will be a shock to most of you and I hate to be the bearer of tragic news but I feel it necessary to inform you that long-time SCCA member and Communications Chief, Barbara Baldwin, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2005.

Barbara was found unconscious in her home by police officers who were summoned by co-workers concerned when she failed to show up for work. Barbara was taken to the hospital where she passed away.

A huge part of Barbara's extended family and her passing will leave many with heavy hearts.

As further information becomes available I will pass it on to you.

-- RJ Gordy, SFR Regional Executive

09/26/05: Barbara Baldwin was a close friend, mentor and inspiration to many over the last 20+ years. She was particularly special to me - working closely together in Race Control, often finishing each other's sentences and laughing about it.

She was someone to look up to; to think "what would Bricks' do?"; to cherish. We are all much richer for having known her and saddened by her sudden death. We have some wonderful memories of sharing special times with her - let's hold on to those memories as we go forward.

-- Hugs and Kisses, Nora

09/16/05: It doesn’t seem possible that this vibrant, vivacious woman is gone so quickly.

I did not have the opportunity to know Barbara as along as many other but I enjoyed the brief time I had the privilege to share the hours in Control or on the other end of a comm line. I

will miss her translating my rantings into English and ignoring the things I did wrong. She added a lot to the race weekends and to this Region and it will a long time until we see her kind again.

I think the last time I saw her was at Sears Point for the IRL race on Saturday when she said she would be watching us all the next day.

Now I know she will be watching us forever.

-- Morris Hamm, NORPAC Steward

09/15/05: We all lost a close friend on Monday. Barbara was a consumate professional who will be very difficult to replace. My deepest condolences to her mother and daughters and all who grieve for her passing.

-- Dick Templeton, NORPAC Steward

09/15/05: My deepest condolences at this dark moment to all who knew and loved Barbara.

I will miss deeply this wonderful person who came into my life  long ago with always a smile, always an idea, always a bounce, and always a twinkle.  There are so  many days, so many talks, so many laughs, so many memories, and every one of them is now cherished and burnt deeply into my being.

Let it be now and forever that I pray Bricks is reunited on the other side of this world with Grace and so many others,  and their spirits await to welcome me in my time, with their comm-logs of the heavens, a hand-mic to the Big Guy, and a good word for me.

Let her being and spirit inspire our strength and will .  I am lost, and I am found.

-- Bob Stegall, SFR Webmaster
