--- Secretary's Report, Minutes from November 2000 - McClellan
Copies distributed. Motion (Cook/Robson): To accept minutes as
presented. Passed--Unanimous.
--- Looking back on Year 2001 - Gordy
Good first year as RE; had a great BoD with which to work. Single
purpose was, "Let's act in club's best interest." Nothing SFR can not
accomplish if we set our minds to it. Pretty impressive year and a very
ambitious schedule. Test days added at SP and Vintage without notice, yet
workers came through for the club. BoD commits to having tests days on the
2002 schedule so Chiefs know when workers are needed.
Rally/Rally X program is growing across the nation. No one locally to
run this program. Need someone to step in and take it forward.
--- Special Achievements:
--- Solo II - Cook
Thanks to Solo II assistance when SFR had two Pro events the same
week-end (one at LS and one at SP). Several members continued to work on
crews at Road Racing events.
Noted that Solo II was previously a regional "step-child," but this
is no longer the case. Annual membership gains attributed to Solo II.
Had 24 events and 2 series this past year, averaged 200
entrants/event. Three chapters--Bay Area, Sacramento, Fresno.
Solo II lost EJ Bayless, who served as secretary to the steering
committee. The ongoing slush series has been named the EJ Memorial Series
and 50% of the revenue is going to cancer research.
Charlie Davis has been nominated to the National Board for Solo.
Annual Tech is likely to happen this year.
--- Vintage - Smith
Bruce Goronsky did a spectacular job in leading the Vintage program.
Not only worked hard, he worked smartly in promoting. There was
approximately 33% increase in participants this year.
Friday test day allowed early Registration and Tech inspection ahead
of the week-end. Workers arose to the occasion to support the region.
Driver feed-back--everyone had a good time.
--- Road Racing - Archer
Caliber of participation is high. Road racing keeps the club afloat.
Had 12 SFR events plus PCRRC/Enduro. Averaged 244/event in '00 and
232/event in '01. SRF had the most participants. Run-offs date change
probably caused a decrease in National entrants.
--- Treasurer's Report - Berry
Financial report distributed. This has been a successful year. Road
racing expenses increased 13%--this is attributed to track costs, insurance
premiums, and ambulance rental. We've provided increased safety standards
and equipment for workers. Administrative costs and The Wheels expenses
increased 15% and 18%, respectively. Year to date income does not include a
successful Nov. vintage event. Motion (Keane/McClellan): To accept
financial report as presented. Passed--Unanimous.
--- Update on Thunderhill and Building - McCarthy
Plan is to continually upgrade and improve; take every opportunity to
improve the facility. Want to have a good place to go play so others want to
come play with us. SFR has $3.6 million in equity. Five year plan, which
continues to be updated, was presented along with a drawing of the proposed
building. Marcy Crawford questioned why only one building was being built;
asked if it wouldn't be more efficient to have a separate Race Control/T&S
from the large building. All SFR administration is being done by TH at no
cost to Region.
--- Where Are We Going - Gordy
--- SFR SCCA Mission Statement and Goals and Objectives - Presented as a
reminder to all. Want to have the best program possible for all to enjoy.
--- Schedule for 2002 - All
Dictated by forces beyond our control when it comes to pro events and
schedules with the tracks. CART and ALMS date changes have had major
effects. Gordy still negotiating with LS and SP regarding worker hours. The
2002 schedule is heavily weighted to the second half of the year. Currently
52 worker days for 02 vs. 51 for '01 and 59 '00. No conflicts with National
race dates in nearby regions.
Discussion on why service in Willows is not better. Asked to provide
information to Chamber of Commerce via Terry Taylor, Mayor.
Discussion of crew staffing needs; WAP funds can be used to assist with
worker expenses. Chiefs to contact Karen Cantu. Social and catered meals
are a help to chiefs to recruit workers.
--- NorPac Round Table
Scheduled for Jan. 4-6, 2002. All members urged to attend.
--- Key Initiatives:
--- Bylaws Revision - Gordy
Not a sweeping revision. Smith/Gordy/McClellan to work out conflict
between current bylaws and previously proposed changes as well as ensuring no
conflict with state corporation laws.
--- Web Site - Smith
Has been built over a long period of time (like a garage which has
never been cleaned out) and has become frustratingly complex. Continuing to
work on redesigning.
--- Training Plans for Crews - Gordy
Formalized plans for inservice training between Jan. and April for
several specialties in the works. Chiefs to bring plans to the Chiefs
Meeting. Need to set Fire School Dates ASAP with SP.
--- Chiefs Meeting - All
Scheduled for noon Jan. 19 at the San Ramon Marriott. Will start
with a buffet lunch. Chiefs need to list staffing needs and what dates so
that Archer can recruit at drivers meetings.
--- The Wheel - All
Writers are needed. Members stated they would like more human
interest stories.
--- Car Show - Gordy
Starts tomorrow and runs Sun. to Sun., 10:00 AM until 10:30 PM. John
Hughes is taking volunteers.
--- Closing - Gordy
Motion (Robson/Davis): To adjourn at 3:28 PM.
--- Social
All invited to stay for sodas and hors-doeuvres.
