January 4, 2012: The new 2012 SCCA rules state that the oldest allowable Snell helmet date is now 2005 -- therefore 2000 or earlier helmets are out of date and not usable for road racing events. The SCCA National office has just released the electronic version of the 2012 GCR. In addition to the new requirement for Head & Neck Protection (HANS, etc.), the new rules state that the oldest allowable Snell helmet date will be 2005. Check the inside of your helmet before heading to the track! You will not be allowed to go on track without a 2005 or later helmet! A PDF file of the new 2012 GCR can be downloaded at: |
