Bruce Goronsky, Vintage racer and former Vintage Chief slipped away peacefully Monday, March 29th in his loving wife’s arms after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Louise wants everyone to know that she and Bruce appreciated all the love and support over the last few months. He will be sorely missed but remembered fondly. A memorial celebration in Goronsky's honor will be held at the Firehouse at Fort Mason in San Francisco, from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 8. RSVP and inquiries can be made to Anna Frost, an agency colleague of Goronsky over the years, at (415) 459-5901. Memorial contributions in Goronsky's name may be sent to the San Francisco chapter of the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA at http://sfspca.org/) or San Francisco-based residential shelter and family services program charity Raphael House (http://www.raphaelhouse.org/).
SAN FRANCISCO, April 01, 2010, --- Bruce A. Goronsky--a noted agency producer and entrepreneur who founded editorial house Fleet Street Pictures, which enjoyed a seven-year run in the Bay Area--died on Monday, March 29, in San Francisco of cancer. He was 61. Goronsky served as a producer at such ad shops as Foote, Cone & Belding, San Francisco, and Ogilvy & Mather, Los Angeles. At FCB his work on Levi's and Clorox earned a pair of Clio Awards and a regional Emmy. A native of Seattle, he moved to San Francisco after college to pursue his career in advertising and broadcast production. Goronsky's personal interests included a love of senior Golden Retrievers and a particular joy in vintage car racing with his Shelby Mustangs. He is lovingly remembered by his many friends and colleagues, by his father and brother, Ade and Paul Goronsky of Seattle, by his wife of 25 years, Louise Ure, and by the children of his heart, Brian and Maya Washington of San Francisco. All who knew Bruce Goronsky will remember his laugh that entered the room before he did. Email The Web Team to share your memories to Bruce's page. I was shocked to hear that the San Francisco Region of SCCA had lost yet another fine member who did so much to make the Region such a wonderful organization with which to race and socialize. Bruce Goronsky epitomized the qualities that make our Region so exceptional. I first met Bruce in 2003 as I was readying my 1964 Mini Cooper for vintage racing. He was quite helpful with many suggestions that made the whole paper trail much neasier to deal with. That he was also a racer was evident in his great enthusiasm that compelled him to compete in the same events that he operated for the Region over a number of years. I am a member of a group of West Coast Mini racers who got together and, working with Bruce, planned and delivered a special race for Minis to be held as part of the vintage racing events held at Laguna Seca and Sears Point. This great relationship continued for quite a number of years even after Bruce passed the vintage racing torch to his successor, Bill Godwin. Bruce was such a pleasure to work with and it was obvious that he shared the Mini drivers' enthusiasm for these special Mini races. Instead of resisting our efforts to hold such a race as part of HIS event, Bruce cleared away any obstacles that could have prevented our having the Mini race. The region has really lost one of its good guys and Bruce will be missed especially by the Mini group. We will always be grateful for all of his help and cooperation in working with us. Our thoughts are with Bruce's family and many friends during this sad time. Kevin Curtin
