Pauline Laskin of Napa, born June 20, 1922 in New York City, died August 8, 2009. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's several years ago, and recently had a stroke. She wanted to donate her body to science so that she could contribute to a cure for Alzheimer's.

Pauline cultivated and nurtured devoted relationships and left many loved ones behind: brother Danny; husband Stan; daughter Leslie and son-in-law Steve; grandchildren Emily and Benjamin; grandchildren Andrew and Abby and their parents Clay and Julie; nieces and nephews who all call Pauline their favorite; many loving cousins and friends; Kam Gantan and the dedicated caregivers at Greenhills in American Canyon.

Pauline was pre-deceased by her daughter Carol Lee in 2001. Pauline dedicated her life to those around her and to bettering her piece of the world. She was a staunch supporter of her husband and children in all of their endeavors and volunteered with dedication at the American Cancer Society and for the Sports Car Club of America.

Pauline was one special lady. She was devoted to Stan and their daughters. When Stan got back in the race car again after a few years sabbatical she was ecstatic. When the grand babies started arriving I thought she was never going to touch ground again. She was just as devoted to her SCCA family, she remembered names of children and grandchildren, kept up to date on all that was going on in each friend’s life, and was always willing to share her opinions.  We have all lost a friend. But, I know that give Pauline a month and Heaven will be better organized than ever before!

Pauline was like a Mom or older sister from the time I met the Laskins and Stan was racing his Spitfire. Her warm heart, sometimes well hidden behind that New York City veneer, made lots of people welcome and at home. I never failed to be happy to see her each morning on "checking in" at Race Central; she always laughed at my bad jokes, and for that she gets a top shelf in my heart.  I shall miss her.
