Preparing to go to your first PDX and what to bring with you

Preparation is everything. A track day will put a significant strain on your vehicle. Change the oil before the event and bring along an extra quart of oil just in case. A high-temperature brake fluid is recommended since you may easily reach stock brake fluid boiling points.

Check tires for proper tread and balance (a shaky steering wheel makes it difficult to drive at the limit). Tires (pattern and tread) should be equal. Tires should never be mixed on the same axle and preferably on the whole car always keep to the same make. Regular rotating of the tires will help to even out the wear so that the tires wear out at the same rate.

What to bring
1. To wear while on track: long-sleeved shirt, long pants, full shoes
2. Helmet (must be Snell 2000 or newer) in good condition
3. Driver’s license
4. SCCA card
5. Sunglasses, sunscreen, water if it's hot; jackets, raingear, wind protection if applicable
6. Chair and other items for between sessions
7. Tire gauge
8. Other car tools
