Al Leake:  August 12, 1938 – January 25, 2008

Al passed away after a short battle with pancreatic cancer, he was sixty-nine years old.   Al loved race cars and they were a part of his life for over 30 years.  He is best known for his association with the Alfa Romeo marque and he eventually built a successful business restoring and custom building cars for customers around the world.

His record in SCCA racing was amazing claiming an amazing 275 victories along with countless track records. His final two SCCA races were at Laguna Seca in September, 2007, racing his beloved Alfa roadster known affectionately as “Sophia”.  Racing against more modern cars in his 50 year-old sports cars, Al won both his races concluding a remarkable SCCA career.  Al was also a regular competitor with “Sophie” in vintage racing and was usually running up front among much bigger cars.
