Darren Michael Moore (Mike)

Our beloved son, grandson, brother and uncle, Mike Moore left us on Sunday, August 5th 2007 at the age of 46.

Mike had many passions in life. He was a car buff and his love for auto racing led him to become crew chief and mechanic of his own racing team.

Born in Ravenna OH, Mike moved to Sparks with his family in 1975. He graduated from and played football and basketball at Reed High School. He also attended UNR studying accounting.

Mike had owned several small businesses over the years, but spent the last 20 years working for Rinker Materials in Sparks overseeing inside sales, dispatching, and accounting.

At the age of 16 Mike was injured in an accident and spent the rest of his days in a wheel chair. He never considered himself to be handicapped and lived with a zest that most people don't possess.

He had a love for the outdoors. Trap and skeet shooting were a favorite and he had even been know to play a round of golf, generally out playing those he was with. He loved to read, history was a favorite. He was one of the brightest people you could hope to meet. There wasn't much he couldn't figure out when he put his mind to it.

Mike was the focal point of his family and will leave a void difficult to fill. We will carry him in our hearts on our journey through life relishing the beautiful memories of times spent together. Those whose lives he touched will remember his loyalty, generosity and easy smile. He was always ready with a wrench in hand to help a competitor get their car back on the track. He was a person you had an immediate affection for because he was so genuine and personable.

Mike enjoyed fishing and camping trips with his Mom and Dad, vacationing and kayaking with his sister Chris and niece Taylor, racing with his brother Tim and working on their cars together, sneaking cookies from his Me-Maw while she baked them and taking her to get lotto tickets on the weekends.

God hit the jackpot when he picked your numbers buddy! We love you and will miss you dearly!

Mike was the son of Gerald and Sandra, grandson to Pauline, brother to Chris and Tim, father figure and best friend to his niece Taylor.

A memorial service was held at Mountain View Mortuary, 435 Stoker Ave, Reno NV, Saturday August 11th 2007 at 1pm followed by a celebration of Mike's life at his parents' home at 925 E. York Way in Sparks.
