Werner G. Brandt - Long-time member of the Infineon Worker Trans Crew and retired owner of C & S Motors in San Rafael, died suddenly on July 12, 2007.

In 1982, Werner bought into C & S Motors and ran the business successfully until his retirement in January 2002. He used his retirement years to travel and spend time with his sons, family and friends. He was the volunteer worker coordinator at Infineon Raceway for the SCCA. His connection with this track was strong as he had raced both Formula Vee and SCCA Showroom Stock from the 1960s to the 1980s. He won many awards and races at this hobby. Werner was born an identical twin within triplets on November 29, 1942 in Liepzig, Germany. He grew up on the family farm near Hameln in the west of Germany. He apprenticed as an automobile mechanic and spent an additional year in business school. In 1964, he and his twin Reiner decided to see the world and sailed on the USS United States to New York. They had "only their jobs skills, tools, $50 and the promise of a job in Chicago" as Werner liked to tell the story. After one cold winter in Chicago, Werner moved on to San Francisco where he took a job at the Volkswagen dealership that was last known as Saltnes VW. In 1982, Werner bought C & S Motors and ran the business until his retirement. Werner is survived by his sons Colin (fiancee Kendy) and Scott, his surviving triplet Gerd (Ilke) of Berlin and their son Heiko and the mother of his sons, Kerry Brandt. Werner is also survived by Carol Brandt (Reiner predeceased) and their children Jason (Tracy) and Monica (Matt) and their grandchildren Sydney, Carson, Ellie, Kyle and Paige. Also in Germany, Christa Brandt (Juergen predeceased), his aunt Gerda Parlitz and many cousins and their families who were very dear to him. With his sons and their mother, Werner had been fortunate to gather together for a reunion in the summer of 2006 during the World Soccer Cup. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Ritter Center in San Rafael, Habitat for Humanity or the charity of your choice. Memorial service will be Friday August 3rd at 3 pm at Pickle3weed Community Center in San Rafael. For information call Chapel of the Hills, 415-453-8440. |
