San Francisco Region Hall of Fame Inaugurated in 2006

The San Francisco Region of the Sports Car Club of America inaugurated a Region Hall of Fame in 2006. The mission of the Hall of Fame is to recognize, record and preserve the accomplishments for current and future members by honoring those members who have made significant contributions to the progress and success of the Region.

Ten individuals were inducted into the Hall of Fame at Thunderhill Raceway Park at the June 2006 Regional Club Race. In 2007, four more worthy members were inducted into the Hall of Fame.

2008 Hall of Fame Names Announced

Feb 2008: I am pleased to announce the 2008 class of inductees to the San Francisco Region Hall of Fame. They will be inducted in a ceremony followed by dinner at Thunderhill Raceway on the evening of July 26.

Judy Kondratieff Ganley - Sprite and Mini racer, Motor Sports Press Association (MSPA) Woman Driver of the Year in 1970, public relations, driver instructor, driver observer, corner worker, two consecutive terms as the Region’s Treasurer and one year as Assistant Regional Executive. The Region's first female board member.

Marty Kaufman - having been in racing for nearly 50 years, he is a former four-term Regional Executive, and former Trans-Am Chief Steward. In 1986 Marty received the Region's highest award, The Premier Award of Merit. He has been the Chief Steward of American LeMans Series since 1987. He was elected to membership of the prestigious Road Racing Driver Club (RRDC) in 2007.

Tom McCarthy - as a 45 year member he began as a driver, winning many FP and SSC Championships. He was elected to the board in 1976 and became Regional Executive in 1988. He conceived the idea of a club-owned race track as an answer to the possible loss of racing facilities -- the end result is Thunderhill Raceway Park.

Dick Mudd - as a former Chairman of the Board of the Glenn County Supervisors, he was instrumental in helping the Region secure and develop the land and move through the political hurdles we faced to create Thunderhill Raceway Park.
