In Memory Of Larry Pagels

08/08/02: I met Larry back in the early 70s through work. It was there that we realized we had a common interest in racing, he was crewing and I was a member of the timing and scoring team (still am). It turned out we lived only a couple blocks away in Albany and started to car pool to
work. During one of those trips across the bridge he challenged me to live my dream to be a race driver and in fact it just so happened that the car
he was crewing for was for sale, need I say more.

He made his garage available to me and crewed for me during first year I raced.

I probably would never have driven if it wasn't for Larry, those were good times that I will never forget.

Looking back, I am so happy I got to see him one last time at the track the weekend before he passed.

God speed Larry and thanks for the memories.

Timing and Scoring

07/25/02: 7 years ago, Larry talked my family and I into joining the SCCA, and signed my son and I up as workers on worker transportation. I have throughly enjoyed these years and I owe it to Larry Pagels.

Larry Pagels was a very special person to my family and I ,and will be greatly missed by all of us. I will always cherish the race weekends we
worked together and the weekends we spent working on his Porsche.

God Bless you Larry.

-John R. Lighthall,
Worker Transportation

07/23/02: Larry was one of my first assistant chiefs. He did everything I asked him to do and more. He will be missed by me and my crew very much.

One of his last wishes was to come to Sears to see a few more races. His wife, Janet, brought him to the races on Sunday, July 7. He died the following Thursday.

07/23/02: Larry took me out to the turn many times and was always there to get me back to the tower and it was always with punctuality, friendship and a big smile.

He will be greatly missed by one and all.

Thanks Larry and God Bless,

- Jack Chisum
