Carl Mofield

It was reported to me that Carl's passing was announced at the June Sprints and that a race was dedicated to him. Since he had hoped to attend the June Sprints this year, a trip that was cancelled due to his surgery, I feel he was there in spirit.

Many thanks to those who attended Carl's service and were able to come by our home afterwards to share stories about him. It was a great comfort to his two cousins that so many of his SCCA Family came to honor his memory. Special thanks to R.J. Gordy for his moving eulogy at the service.

I had just seen Carl at The Wine Country Calssic at Infineon the weekend before his surgery. We had our regular morning coffee and conversation session both mornings at Worker Trans. He had on his usual smile and good spirit. He even stayed at the track longer than usual to walk the paddock and enjoy the vintage cars. I was very shocked to learn that he had passed. My prayers to his family and friends.

We have had many a trip together, The Racing Car Show in England,Sebring, The Runnoff's both at Atlanta and Mid-Ohio and countless races in the region. Carl you will be missed by all of us. There are so many memories. Thanks Carl.

We received very sad news as we arrived at the Laguna Seca racetrack Friday morning that long time SFR Member and Road Racing Race Chairman Carl Mofield of San Rafael had passed away, during a planned surgical procedure, on the evening of Thursday, June 10th.

We do not have word of memorial services scheduling yet, however we will post that information as soon as it comes to us.

The SFR Webteam passes on their deepest condolences to his immediate family, extended SCCA family, and the many friends on their loss.
