Race Driving - Information on obtaining an SCCA Competition License and going racing with San Francisco Region in Regional Club Race events.

First step to a competition license

If you have no previous racing experience, you need to apply for a Novice Permit.

Attend an SCCA Drivers School

To activate your Novice Permit, you must attend an SCCA Drivers School

If you have previous racing experience

. . .some or all of your licensing requirements may be waived. . .

If you have attended a racing school

. . .it may count as part or all of your required SCCA Drivers Schools.

Racing on a Novice Permit

Once you have your Novice Permit, you will compete with it for at least two races

Novice Permit to Competition License

With two regional races completed on your Novice Permit. . .

Renew your license each year

. . .listing at least two races completed in the previous 12 months

Entering an SFR regional race event

You have several methods available to enter a regional road race event: mail, fax, or online registration.

Entering late or withdrawing from a race

Late entries, post entries, withdrawals and refunds

Dual entries - entering twice

Dual entries can provide you more track time at a lower rate

At-track registration

All drivers must go to Registration at the track to check in
